Sonnet: Flowers

Haven’t written a sonnet in a while, here it goes

Morning dawns and dew covers the grass
Light pours through the window above our bed
Gentle, warm rays of sun, rain down on us
Eyes crack open to softly kiss your head

Begin to wonder how I can show you
All the love I possess for my baby
What gestures prove my love for you is true?
Chocolates, poems or jewelry maybe?

Flowers represent how strongly I feel
Beautiful and fragrant in a glass vase
Delicate, precious and so very real
They brighten and liven up every place

So from my heart I gift you these flowers
And pray others have a love bright as ours

TBT: All You Need is Love

another poem from my youth, cheesy but cute, and yes, I was a huge Beatles fan

To not have to worry about money or wealth,
To never have problems with sickness or health,
If food was free, and there was plenty for me,
If the world was at peace, and there was oil in the East,
It would be nice.
But everything is literally uncontrollable.
It is a nice dream, and an immense goal.
It’s not something that will change overnight.
Hopefully someday we can live in an utopia,
But until then we must survive,
And keep our hopes alive.
So to walk down the long and winding road,
All you need is love.
Everything else is lace on the tapestry of life.

Big Fat Cat

Big fat cat
Sleeping on my bed
Why do you insist on
Sitting on my head?

Big fat cat
You purr so loud
Why is this distraction
Even allowed?

Big fat cat
You do nothing all day
Don’t you ever
Want to run and play?

Big fat cat
You’re lazy and slow
But you’re sweet and fluffy
And I love you so.

My Demons

Dr-Strange-Quotation

This Dr. Strange quote inspired this poem. Enjoy.

Smile on my face and words, joking
Hide the battle ever raging
Between myself and again, myself
The never ending war within oneself

Claws ever scratching at my soul
Digging deeper for total control
Hot words hissed into my ears
Convincing me of my greatest fears

My demons demanding my attention
Gathered over years of frustration
Failures, abuse, mistakes and sins
Opened the door to demons, let them in

They are part of me now ever thirsty
To drink my blood to them so tasty
Seeking my depravity, demise, ruin
Steal my confidence and reputation

Sadly, the demons have won sometimes
Been dark clouds stealing the sunshine
Wrapped my heart in their malice and deceit
Till I cried in pain, broken, beat

No more do I battle them as before
They will never leave, here evermore
Though I have learned to live above them
They may remain, but they no longer win

I am glad for them in the end
They showed me a life very dim
Also that I have the power to choose
When they invite failure, I can refuse

My demons made me stronger in strife
Allow me to live a peaceful life
Never rid of the demons I’ve collected
Only I’ve their taunts rejected

Birthday Poem: My Fire

While words may not be enough
To describe how much love
I have for you my lovely wife
There’s one word that just might
Fire

Your spirit burns so bright
For people lost you are a light
Those shivering cold, you’re warmth
A warming glowing red hearth
A Fire

When I met you I saw it too
Made me want to get to know you
That warm smile and beautiful face
Drawn to you, into your embrace
Your Fire

My love for you exploded in joy
I knew I wanted every day to enjoy
Your love, your company, your heart
I never want to be a part
from, your Fire

Happy Birthday my love

Burn Bright always

High above the world
Air cool and clean in the trees
Peaceful I can breathe
