Never Let Go

Today my heart broke
As I laid down and spoke
Soft words to my darling son
As his life of burden begun

Gripped with fear that cannot
Be defeated or even fought
Though I would battle anything
Can we defeat anxiety?

Your tears ripped my heart away
Give me the words I need to say
To soothe your pain and anguish
I’m desperate this ache to vanquish

If I had the weapon
I would end the confusion
If only my love and embrace
Your anxiety could erase

I’m becoming desperate my son
To guard you from this season
It pains me as your father
That your world is becoming darker

I would take your fear and pain
But my hopes are all in vain
I promise I’ll fight with you though
I will never give up, never let go

Black White
Left Right
Fight Fight Fight

Race color
Children’s future
Angry, hostile, furor

Blinding hate
For evil’s sake
A horrible fate

Twisted mind
Against mankind
All of them blind

Tap, Tap, Tap

Tap Tap Tap
Send Send Send
Have no more time to spend

With expanding your mind
Or hunting treasures to find
Improving your body
Or strengthening your family

Nothing but Tap Tap Tap
Send Send Send
Only left with your best friend

Eyes fixed downward
Bow to your lord
Bent over like peasants
You lowly subjects

And just Tap Tap Tap
Send Send Send
Only this till the end

Slaves to the device in your hand
I beg your to break away if you can
Rejoin a world of relationships
Love people and forge friendships

No more Tap Tap Tap
Send Send Send
You can heal, you can mend

Be better than a tapping drone
Feeling so connected but really, alone
Stop allowing the drain of your soul
Let go and make living your goal

Welcome New School Year

The bell will ring
Come on in
Hopes and goals bring
Students as school begins

Please have a seat
I’m glad you’re here
It’s wonderful to meet
It’s a brand new school year

If last year disappointed
Leave it far behind
It’s not so much important
Those marks, they don’t define

I have so much to teach
So many things to learn
There’s lots of goals to reach
Many pages we have to turn

Fear not my students
I will lead the way
We’ll explore many subjects
And learn more every day

Please come in, you’re invited
The school year’s just begun
I’m so thrilled, delighted
We’re going to have so much fun

Big Fat Cat

Big fat cat
Sleeping on my bed
Why do you insist on
Sitting on my head?

Big fat cat
You purr so loud
Why is this distraction
Even allowed?

Big fat cat
You do nothing all day
Don’t you ever
Want to run and play?

Big fat cat
You’re lazy and slow
But you’re sweet and fluffy
And I love you so.

My Demons

Dr-Strange-Quotation

This Dr. Strange quote inspired this poem. Enjoy.

Smile on my face and words, joking
Hide the battle ever raging
Between myself and again, myself
The never ending war within oneself

Claws ever scratching at my soul
Digging deeper for total control
Hot words hissed into my ears
Convincing me of my greatest fears

My demons demanding my attention
Gathered over years of frustration
Failures, abuse, mistakes and sins
Opened the door to demons, let them in

They are part of me now ever thirsty
To drink my blood to them so tasty
Seeking my depravity, demise, ruin
Steal my confidence and reputation

Sadly, the demons have won sometimes
Been dark clouds stealing the sunshine
Wrapped my heart in their malice and deceit
Till I cried in pain, broken, beat

No more do I battle them as before
They will never leave, here evermore
Though I have learned to live above them
They may remain, but they no longer win

I am glad for them in the end
They showed me a life very dim
Also that I have the power to choose
When they invite failure, I can refuse

My demons made me stronger in strife
Allow me to live a peaceful life
Never rid of the demons I’ve collected
Only I’ve their taunts rejected

TBT: A Poem

This was definitely a high school assignment. Why we were supposed to write a poem about poems I surely don’t know. But here was mine…

A poem is an element of wonder,

Such wonder is hard to describe.

A poem is never good, and never bad,

It cannot be graded on a scale.

A poem is any group of words,

In any order that seems fitting.

A poem can be as simple as breathing,

Or it can be as complex as dating.

A poem is a seed planted in the mind of the reader,

With proper food it can grow to be a great tree.

A poem can cause a tempest of the mind,

Or a melody of the heart.

A poem can bring out the best in you,

Or unleash the worst.

A poem is a language,

That speaks to us all.

A poem is a teacher,

From whom we all could learn.

More than anything else,

A poem is,

Whatever you want it to be.
