Dadda

Dadda! Dadda! Dadda!

Why do they call me so incessantly?

Can’t they see?

How tired I be

And how I need

to rest

Dadda! Dadda! Dadda!

Sometimes it’s so difficult

To endure all their calls

For cups

For snacks

For anything

Dadda! Dadda! Dadda!

God I love them but sometimes

I just need them to mind

And not call me every minute

Especially when I’m on the toilet

Leave me be

Dadda! Dadda! Dadda!

I know that I’ll survive

But sometimes I have to strive

Not to just run away and hide

Or wish I weren’t alive

I need some rest

Thunder crashing loud

Shaking windows and my soul

Stirring me deeply

Ode to the Last Dragon Slayer

Have a seat and fill your flaggons
The world was once filled with dragons

They flew the skies and lived in caves
Sending many to early graves

Some breathed fire others poison
Melted some left others frozen

Came in many shapes and sizes
Most have met their own demises

The Dragon Slayer killed them all
Avenged the slain and freed the thrall
The Dragon Slayer killed them all
Avenged the slain and freed the thrall

They say that he went on a quest
But was defeated like the rest

Like so many held in bondage
Just another slave is hostage

Kept for years a dragon’s captive
By an ice drake cold and massive

In a frozen cave far away
He just waited for the right day

The Dragon Slayer killed them all
Avenged the slain and freed the thrall
The Dragon Slayer killed them all
Avenged the slain and freed the thrall

At last he knew his chance had come
To slay the beast the battle won

Sprung his cage no longer interred
He found an enchanted halberd

Stalked his captor found him sleeping
His eyes closed with frozen breathing

The weapon thrust deep in his hide
The battle raged the dragon died

The Dragon Slayer killed them all
Avenged the slain and freed the thrall
The Dragon Slayer killed them all
Avenged the slain and freed the thrall

More Empty Words

Waters ebb and flow
and even though
I long ago
Learned to let go
When you fail me again
With empty words
Just one more
Emotional blow
To drag my spirit low

Thank You!

Thank you for all the support. It’s a humbling thing to put art out there for people to enjoy, judge or criticize. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read a poem.

Endure it Does

Through fires raging
War drums banging
Our Love
Endure it does

Even when waters rise
When there’s stormy skies
Our Love
Endure it does

Ever climbing hills
It cannot be killed
Our Love
Endure it does

Though it has enemies
Who sabotage like thieves
Our Love
Endure it does

When we want to quit
We can’t live without it
Our Love
Endure it does

Worth more than gold
More than precious stone
Our Love
Endure it does

Like towering trees
Dancing in the breeze
Our Love
Endure it does

It’s strong as rock
Crumble it will not
Our Love
Endure it does

Even over time
It improves like wine
Our Love
Endure it does

Our love has no end
Ever will it mend
Our Love
Endure it does

TBT: The Cycle

First Poem I ever wrote. Thought of it while working on the farm.

It is the superior man that falls the hardest,
At having lost his blood boils with jealousy and rage,
If his superiority discontinues he himself discontinues.
Life in its darkest form,
He falls at the mercy of Life from the clouds so high,
Onto the barren, jagged, untamed rocks of the Earth.
They have seen much of time, life,
They await its end,
Exposed themselves by time, life, they take life away.
Then another pawn takes his place in the majestic clouds.
To continue the rising and falling of power,
The Cycle.
